Queenslanders embrace the opportunity to celebrate Australia Day II this Saturday 23rd February, one month after Mother Nature disrupted celebrations in January.
Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games Jann Stuckey said festivities would kick off with a breakfast barbecue at Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier on Saturday.
“Australia Day II events will be celebrated the length and breadth of the State, including community barbecues and family events in Bundaberg, the Fraser Coast, Gympie and Gladstone”.
Premier Campbell Newman will celebrate with the people of Bundaberg at a community barbecue at Alexandra Park on Saturday.
“Locals didn’t get the chance to celebrate Australia Day back in January,” Mr Newman said.
